Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 medium chopped onion
- 3 cups of chopped cabbage
- 1 can of diced tomatoes, 14.5 ounces, undrained
- 1 cup of cooked rice
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of beef broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat until it is fully cooked.
- Drain any excess fat from the cooked beef.
- Add garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the beef mixture and stir well.
- Layer half of the chopped cabbage in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
- Spread the beef mixture over the cabbage layer.
- Sprinkle the cooked rice over the beef.
- Pour the can of diced tomatoes over the rice evenly.
- Add the remaining chopped cabbage on top.
- Pour beef broth over the entire dish.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake it in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- After 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
Meat Options: You can swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
Cheese Choices: Try mozzarella or pepper jack for a different cheesy twist.
