Description

Cabbage Beef Bake is a family favorite at our house! It’s hearty, comforting, and so easy to make. Perfect for busy weeknights or cozy weekends. You’ll love the flavors and ease!


Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 3 cups of chopped cabbage
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes, 14.5 ounces, undrained
  • 1 cup of cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup of beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat until it is fully cooked.
  4. Drain any excess fat from the cooked beef.
  5. Add garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the beef mixture and stir well.
  6. Layer half of the chopped cabbage in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
  7. Spread the beef mixture over the cabbage layer.
  8. Sprinkle the cooked rice over the beef.
  9. Pour the can of diced tomatoes over the rice evenly.
  10. Add the remaining chopped cabbage on top.
  11. Pour beef broth over the entire dish.
  12. Cover the dish with foil and bake it in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  13. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  14. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

Meat Options: You can swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.

Cheese Choices: Try mozzarella or pepper jack for a different cheesy twist.

Make-Ahead Tip: Assemble the casserole in advance and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours before baking.

Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.

Reheating: Warm up leftovers in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes or microwave in short bursts.
